Last week, we stopped by for Jum'ah prayer at Masjid Kampung Kuala Pangsun.
When I saw this mosque…a simple local mosque, it immediately reminded me of the Mosque Tour Programme (MTP).
Malaysia is blessed with so many mosques, yet relatively few have in-house guides or structured programmes that encourage visitors, including Muslims themselves, to explore, understand and appreciate the mosque beyond simply coming in to pray.
A mosque is something significant. It is central to our religion, but it is also deeply connected to our history, culture and community.
This mosque may not be seen as a "magnificent" mosque compared to some of the grand, iconic mosques in our cities. It is not huge or luxurious. But attraction does not always come from grandeur.
Suddendly, someone reminded me to look at this mosque differently and I realised how unique it actually is.
Surrounded by beautiful nature, lush trees and a small flowing river, there is something peaceful about worshipping Allah in a place like this. Sometimes, we do not even notice these blessings. Perhaps we take them for granted because mosques are everywhere around us.
Do we truly appreciate them?
More importantly, are we fully utilising our mosques as a platform to introduce the beauty of Islam, its values, history, architecture, community and way of life?
Something worth pondering deeply.
Awareness Through Mosque Tours.
InshaAllah, I believe one day mosque tour programmes will become an increasingly significant part of how we connect people with the mosque and through the mosque, with the beauty of Islam. Ameen. Please say Ameen too.
